A small, transparent beginning. Two historical appropriations, chosen for clear primary sources. Independent editorial review is pending. This pilot is not a comprehensive budget database.

WHAT THIS NUMBER MEANS
Permission to spend. Payments are a different number.
An appropriation provides budget authority. It does not tell us how much was committed or paid, where purchases occurred, or whether the program achieved its goals.
Population is fixed to Vintage 2024 for reproducibility. We round only the displayed result, using integer arithmetic.
EQUAL-SHARE EQUIVALENT

per resident
For 1 person—
An illustration of scale—not your tax bill, an actual refund, or money you are owed. Residents include minors and noncitizens.
03 / EXPLORE A WHAT-IF
A different use of the money?
Choose a hypothetical reduction and how much of that gross amount would go to equal distribution. The rest stays unallocated in this exercise.
This is arithmetic, not a savings forecast. Existing commitments, timing, cancellation costs, and legal limits can change what is actually available.

ASK THE NEXT QUESTION
What would make this spending worthwhile?
A dollar amount alone cannot establish effectiveness, waste, or wrongdoing. This pilot has not evaluated program outcomes. Keep, reduce, cut, increase, and unsure polls will require a separate participation design before we collect responses.
04 / OUR METHOD
Every number needs a paper trail.
01
Keep the stages distinct.
Requested is proposed. Appropriated provides budget authority. Obligated is committed. Outlays are payments. We label the stage and preserve its period.
02
Show the boundaries.
These examples are specific appropriation paragraphs, not account-wide final totals. We do not add them into a federal budget total or compare them to cash outlays.
Dataset: pilot-2026-11-05-v1. Calculator: equal-share-v1. First source check: November 5, 2026. Independent review and a comprehensive reconciliation remain pending. FY2024 runs October 1, 2023–September 30, 2024; availability can extend beyond it.
Initial release: two historical source records and browser-local scenario calculations. Future material corrections will receive a new version and a dated explanation. Report a possible error through this project's working chat while the pilot contact address is being verified.
A DRIFTWING MEDIA PILOT
Public resources. Equal civic standing.
“America’s Shareholders” is a civic stewardship metaphor. It does not mean tradable shares, a legal dividend entitlement, or influence proportional to taxes paid.
Our aim is nonpartisan transparency across spending categories. We publish sources and limitations so you can reach your own judgment.
Privacy and funding
This pilot sends no calculator inputs or political preferences to a database. It uses no analytics, advertising trackers, accounts, or browser storage. The hosting provider may process ordinary request information to deliver and protect the site. A contact mailbox and host-specific retention details will be verified before participation features are introduced.
This prototype uses the project owner's existing resources. It has no paid placements, affiliate links, or donation collection. Operator details and any future funding relationships will be disclosed before a broader launch.
